Film Review of Agneepath (2012) - Starring Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka & Sanjay Dutt

Trend of creating 'Remake' of old hit movies is not very new for bollywood. We have seen many remake of Hindi movies in last few years. The list includes Devdas, Don, Umroa Jaan, Ram Gopal Verma ki Aag, Karz & many more.

Creating a remake of old hits is turning out to be a new fashion as majority of the remakes are doing well on the box office. Good example would be Farhan Akhatar’s Don which was adapted from Don(1978) starring Amitabh Bachchan. Don(1798) movie wasn't a very successful movie but Farhan directed Don(2006) was a great hit. Filmmaker Karan Johar had decided to create a remake of Yash Johar's 1990 production film Agneepath for which Amitabh Bachchan won a national award & the film has been released on 26 January, 2012.

Hrithik Roshan had confirmed that it is not the same old story and there will be lots of changes, twists and turns & to be honest, new Agneepath is different, fresh & truly an action packed movie. Agneepath is sure to be a big hit.

Director Karan Johar has kept same old plot and the story starts in a very small village called mandawa, where principle Deenanath Chauhan stays with his wife & son Vijay. The happy life of Vijay gets destroyed when drug dealer Kancha Cheena (Sanjay Dutt) kills Vijay’s father, which forces Vijay & his mother to leave the mandawa. Vijay comes to Mumbai, takes a shelter in Raul Lala’s (Rishi Kapoor) territory. He gets help from Lala & Kali ( Priyanka Chopra) to take his revenge.

Film is very good & film makers have really taken hard efforts to make everything different & new, as they knew that film will be compared with old movie. Hrithik Roshan & Priyanka Chopra have worked really hard but Sanjay Dutt has stolen the show with his character ‘Kancha Cheena’. Rishi Kapoor has played good role as supportive actor. Agneepath sets good example that how to pay tribute to the original movie without ruining its name.

Excellent music by Ajay Atul. They have done fantastic job in all the songs. Song Chikani Chameli has already created quite a buzz among the music lovers.

Final Words:

It is a must watch movie & will be one of the biggest hits of the year 2012. Please do watch it. It’s a good combination of well written script, great direction and awesome acting performances.
